WOW! UPDATING... WHAT A CONCEPT!
Well, I've actually been working on the site the last couple days. It is been a long time since I've done anything to improve our site. I actually do most of the work myself, not always easy to find the time. The last entry on "What's New", was in 2008. I almost had to laugh. No, actually, I did laugh.
Well what's new with me/us?
Things are pretty much the same as always. Trying to stay out there, travel when I can, and minister every opportunity I get.
I've got a strange mixture of old and some really new songs that I'd like to record. I'm looking to the Lord for financing and guidance in how to accomplish that, I spent some time recently with Bryan Duncan, who turned me on to "Kickstarter.com." It's a web site where you pitch your project, and people can donate as "patrons of the art", etc. Thinking of trying that.
I've been recording the random song here and there, and putting up single songs on iTunes. Latest is "By The Way", a song of repentance I wrote many years ago to my wife. It was after my first bout with alcohol, and I never sang it for her until this year. I never felt I could live up to the lyric. Still don't. Also released "Heart of America", which you probably heard if you came through the home page. Anyhow, I've got some pretty good new songs so I'm hoping for the Lord to show me how to, as is said here in Tennessee "Git 'er done!."
I am working on "Song Commentary" for "Name Above All Names" album. Should be up on the site in the next week. More to follow, as I am planning on putting out a booklet with the story of how I wrote every song I've ever recorded. Plan is to have it free ofcharge, as a gift/promotional tool.
Also, I'm highly improving the Photo Gallery. The pathetic little thumbnails, with no enlargement capabilities will soon be a thing of the past. Full blown high rez enlargements will soon be available. Actually, right now, Early Years and Love Song Years are done. I will be adding some other photos to these categories as well. Planning on a "Family" section if my very private family will give permission. Many of you have asked, and I will try to get that together.
I'm trying to get my book out as soon as I can. It's the story of my life. I never really thought I would write my own story, because I didn't think it was that interesting. But it seems like it's a God thing, and my story seems to parallel the lives of many who lived during the hippie era. I'm seeking counsel on final editing, and ways to get it out there and published.
I am looking for clients for something new I am seeking to do to augment my dwindling income. I am an expert at digitizing and restoring photos.I will be launching a web site before too long, hopefully, which will show examples of my work, and very reasonable prices. So, if you have old slides, negatives, whatever, I can scan them. You will then choose any photos that you want restored and I will expertly make them like new. Email me if you want to discuss. I also will be doing audio transfers: old cassettes, tapes, LPs, digitized and cleaned up, by a veteran of 50 years. Stay tuned.
I'm very grateful to all of you who have been so encouraging to Karen and me through email,Facebook and other modern means of communication. The Internet is truly good for something, and I appreciate your wonderful thoughts and support.
Well this hasn't been that interesting, but at least it's something to read. Something new from me, at least.
Pray for us for guidance, ministry opportunities, and perspective in these very troubling days that lie ahead.
As someone once said "if you can keep your head in the midst of all this confusion, you don't understand the situation."
Looking forward to being a little more regular in the "What's New" column.
