SOLDIER
(Chuck Girard)
I am a soldier but I have no gun
I have my armor it’s the shield of the Son
I’m in the front line of an unknown war
Unknown to those who are dyin’

My weapons are designed to give you life
They're not the bullet or the Bowie knife
They are the softness of a Father's love
They are the wisdom that comes from above

When we were in the world the devil had the power
We were slowly dyin' day by day
Now we found Jesus, we grow stronger by the hour
Stand on Jesus' name, the devil, he cannot stay

 CHORUS

We all are soldier’s but we have no guns
We have our armor it’s the shield of the Son
We’re in the front line of an unknown war
Unknown to those who are dyin’

A breastplate made of righteousness, the gospel on our feet
The belt of truth so firmly 'round our waist
Salvation is our helmet and our sword the word of God
And in our hands the mighty shield of faith

(RPT CHORUS)

The weapon of the strength of unity
All men involved in common purpose
The bonds of love for the people who are cryin'
To give the life to the ones who are dyin'
To do the best we can to show you the answer
We only do the best we can

HOME FOR GOOD
(Chuck Girard-Pat Hollis)
 Growing years, those painful years
I looked for love in Godforsaken places
Trite it seems now but there You were
And there was love, only a fool would take it lightly

Soft and still, surrounding night
You captured me with innocence
And You gave me life
Growing years, those painful years
You saw me through and You finally brought me home

CHORUS

At last I've found You
I thought I never would
At last I'm home now
 I'm home for good

In a way, Your quiet way
You let me be in what I thought was freedom
But I'm in Your arms now
And just as I am, I'm safe and sound
And I'm blessed with sweet assurance

In Your eyes, I see the world
It's a world of hallelujah mornings
Growing years, those painful years
You saw me through and You finally brought me home

BUSY DAY
(Chuck Girard)
CHORUS

Busy day, busy day,
Busy, busy, busy day
Busy, busy, busy, busy day

I find that the telephone line, keeps aringin',
Keeps me busy all the day
And i find that my radio,
Keeps me busy in a different kind of way
I find that my tv,
My records and my magazines
I find that distractions like these,
Keep me busy like i don't want to be

Chorus

And I find in the afternoon,
When I should be gettin' time for a rest
My neighbor knockin' on my kitchen door,
Puts my patience to the ultimate test
Chit chat while I sit there,
Tryin' to communicate
I get so hassled that I walk out the door,
I got to unwind before it's too late

I find that it's a busy life,
There's no time to take a minute or two
To do the things that I should do,
The things that I should do
Keepin' up with the pressures I face,
Of the everyday life that I lead
I'm always taking care of things that i want,
And forgettin' all the things that I need

(RPT CHORUS)

And i find in the evening time,
When i should be puttin' my time aside
To read my bible or just talk to the lord,
I find that my brains are just fried
How busy, how busy, can just this one life be
I know I’d tell you it's too busy for you,
So it's got to be too busy for me

BORDER TOWN
 (Chuck Girard)
He was born in the south
The gospel in his mouth
With an outward kind of holiness around him
But it could never take root
'Cause it didn't really suit him
And what should have been his freedom only bound him

Time and time again
He felt the pleasure of his sin
But though he knew it would not last beyond its season
It seduced him anyway
And he made his choice one day
And rejected everything he once believed in

He's livin' in a border town
He's livin' in a border town
His left foot in the dark
His right foot in the light
One person in the day
And another in the night
He's livin' in a border town

Though he'd made the choice
His friends would never, ever know
He was too weak to let his secret self be known to them
But the man they saw outside
Was just an act so he could hide
The inward man that he did not want exposed to them
It is better to be hot
It is better to be cold
Than in the middle of a highway goin' nowhere
Darkness to the left of you
A magnet in the night Gm
But a decision must be made to not go in there

Get out of that border town
Get out of that border town
Your left foot in the dark
Your right foot in the light
One person in the day
And another in the night

(Fade )

Get out of that border town...
Get out of that border town...

WITNESS
(Chuck Girard)
I witnessed to a man today,
I witnessed to his wife
I told them 'bout the way
And I told them 'bout the life
I told them how they needed
To surrender to the Lord
I told them 'bout the power
Of his double edged sword

CHORUS

Witness, witness, witness
Witness all the time
Such a little witness
See him shine, see him shine,
See him shine

I witnessed to a drunkard
Outside a tenement
I told him he was shameful
And he needed to repent
I witnessed to a blind man
Beggin' money on the street
I put a tract into his cup
And did not miss a beat

(RPT CHORUS)

I passed out little tracts
With all the scriptures underlined
I handed one to each and everyone
That I could find
I'd shove one in their hands
And I’d walk on to the next
I must have reached a hundred souls
With my salvation text

I gave out little bibles
With the gospel of St. John
Into a hundred hands
Before my bibles were all gone
I told each one I met
The words of John 3 verse 16
And sandwiched in a little bit of Matthew
In between

I finished out the day
And yet I was not satisfied
And on my way back home
It hit me and I almost cried
I'd given them the message
And I’d given them a little shove
But I’d missed the most important thing,
I had not given love

THE FOLD
(Chuck Girard)
And now the time has come to know You
Redeeming usage of my days
The shadow has been put aside
The raging voice has finally died
The feeling comes, the time is now

A rich emotion fills me deeply
The thing I feared has passed away
Another voice, another word
A peaceful sound I've never heard
A warm enfolding fills my soul and lets me know
You are here now, come now into the fold

(Fade)

"And Jesus said, 'I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my
sheep know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay
down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep, that are not of this flock;
I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice and there shall be
one flock, one shepherd. My sheep listen to my voice. I know them and they
follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish"

THE STAND
(Chuck Girard)
And she gets up in the morning
To the darkness of the dawn
She knows that soon the sun will be arisin'
And though things look so helpless
On the surface of it all
There is now an inner strength she can rely on

And she looks into the mirror
And she knows what she is seeing
That face that once she could not stand to gaze on
Even when she's feeling like the child she used to be
The woman she's become has made her free

She's the one who took the lessons
Of two thousand different years
And she shaped them into something to believe in
She's sorted through the laughter
And the anger and the tears
She has made her final stand
And with his help she now can handle anything

As the chapter comes to closing,
She looks back at all her fears
She knows that now she made the right decision
She is total now she is complete
The corners have been purged
She's come alive and there she's gonna stay

RACIN' LIKE THE WIND
(Chuck Girard)
Racing like the wind
Feeling like a winter's day
Looking all along the way
For the things I've always known
Racing like the wind
Racing down that long
Dark freeway
Racing like the winning Is the only way the
Race can finally end
Can finally end
I'm racing like the wind
See the light at the end of the tunnel
See the light at the front of the tunnel
Running so long
The feeling's getting stronger
That the end of the running may be never
And now I'm racing like a wind
Racing like a wind back to you
I'm racing like a wind
Racing like a wind back to you
Racing like the wind through the tunnel
Sliding down the spout of the funnel
Will I ever learn to just give up
And let my freedom fly
Racing like a wind through the
Shadow of a long dark hallway
I'm trying to make some time
But never really gaining any ground
It seems like the runnin'
Keeps me runnin' like I'm
Movin' backwards
But now I'm racin' like the wind
Racin like a wind back to you
Crying like the thunder as I
Kick against the fences that enclose me
I built them all and I built them
Strong enough to hold me
I'm trying to kick them down
But you know they surround me
And they choke me
And yet I'm racing like a wind
Racing like the wind back to you
Racing like a wind
Racing like a wind back to you
I'm crying like the thunder as I
Kick against the fences that enclose me
I built them all and I built them
Strong enough to hold me I'm tryin' to kick 'em down
But you know they surround me
And they choke me
Still I'm racing like a wind
Racing like a wind back to you
Racing like the wind
Racing like a wind back to you
Yeah, I'm racing like the wind
Racing like the wind back to you

CHILD COME HOME
(Chuck Girard)
How it hurts Me to watch you
How it hurts Me to see
How you go on your own way
How you think you are free

But you're only a shadow
Of what you someday will be
When you wind down your mainspring
And turn your eyes back on Me

Though I know that day will be comin'
In the meantime it grieves
To see you wastin' your moments
Moments you'll never retrieve

Walkin' solo down the sidestreets
Reachin' out for fantasies
Tryin' to conquer all your loneliness
By givin' in to the disease

Child come home
Child come home...

Child come home
Child come home...
