The festival featured five rock bands from Calvary Chapel. An estimated 900 young people from the Harbor Area showed up for the concert which consisted primarily of religious rock music. The first group to play, Love Song, was comprised of four young men who all said they have been arrested on narcotics charges in the past. One said he is still serving two days a week in jail for a marijuana offense. The group is now "down on drugs" and has written songs with religious messages. The group's manager, Mort Solomon, said, "These boys now believe in the Lord and are writing, singing and preaching to young people and giving personal testimony on the evils of drugs." Titles of some of the songs played by Love Song included "Jesus Puts the Song in Our hearts," "Changes," "Since I Opened Up the Door," and "Think About What Jesus Said." Religious literature was passed out by many of the long-haired youths at the festival which lasted until 5 p.m. |
